Clarence S. Haynes has a trade and investment advisory practice in which headvises clients on the development and implementation of trade and investment strategies in theemerging markets. Formerly with Bankers Trust Company (now a part of Deutsche Bank) and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation, Mr. Haynes’ extensive advisory experience includes start-ups, PPPs, company reorganization, emerging market funds, and equipment procurement in among others, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and Mozambique.
His work includes assessment of foreign direct investment by reviewing foreign ownership limits, capital repatriation policies, market demand and competitiveness, environmental and developmental impact issues, and other pertinent legal-regulatory issues. While at Bankers Trust Company, Mr. Haynes had postings in Canada where he oversaw the conversion of its Canadian finance company affiliate into a Class B Chartered bank and in Brazil he served as the Bankers Trust Brazil Senior Country Officer.
Additionally, Mr. Haynes has served on the boards of financial institutions in Canada, Brazil, and Ghana. Mr. Haynes maintains relationships with major private sector financial institutions and multilateral/bilateral institutions including the World Bank Group including theInternational Finance Corporation.
Mr. Haynes, who has working knowledge of Portuguese and French, holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. He has testified before the United States Congress on private sector investment in emerging markets.
